Breweries have only got themselves to blame for flat sales

The brewers need to look at their relationships with their customers, the communities they serve and their tenants.

First of all, they are cutting their own throats by allowing volume buyers huge discounts.

Secondly, the breweries no longer serve traditional communities They have walked away from running pubs and got into the business of supplying nationally run management companies, with their blandness and branding, which have no interest in the community. This is why beer consumption has slumped by 49% since 1979.
